These terms apply to everyone who creates a reader account or buys a novel on Candlelit Stories. By signing up you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
Your account. Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You may delete your account at any time from your settings.
What you buy. When you buy a novel you receive a personal, non-transferable right to read it on Candlelit Stories. You pay once and we do not charge again for that novel. You may not copy, share, resell or republish the text, or use it to train or test AI systems.
Free chapters. The first chapters of each novel are free to read. The number is shown on the novel page.
Prices and payment. Prices are shown before you pay, in US dollars or euros, and show any taxes that apply. Payments are processed by Stripe. Where Stripe acts as the seller of record, its terms also apply to your purchase.
Immediate access and withdrawal. Novels are digital content supplied at once. At checkout you confirm that you want immediate access and understand that you lose your right of withdrawal. If a novel does not open or work as described, write to us and we will fix it or refund you. We also refund where the law requires it.
Refunds and chargebacks. If a purchase is refunded or disputed with your bank, access to that novel ends.
Comments and reactions. You may react to a chapter you can read. Only the author of a novel and readers who bought it may comment. Your comment shows your profile display name, or "A reader" if you have not set one. You can choose to hide your name on each comment. Comments must be respectful and must not contain hate, threats, personal data about others, advertising or anything unlawful. Authors may hide comments on their own novels, and we may hide or remove any comment. Other readers can report a comment, and we review reports.
Following. You can follow authors to see their new work. Only you can see who you follow. Authors see only how many readers follow them.
Beta links. An author may share a private link to unpublished chapters. If you receive one, the text is confidential. Do not share the link or copy the text.
Our service. We try to keep Candlelit Stories available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted. If we ever close the site, we will give notice and, where possible, a way to keep reading what you bought.
Changes. We may update these terms. When a change matters, you will be asked to accept the new version. If you disagree, you can close your account.
Law. Portuguese law applies, without removing the consumer rights you have in your own country.
